Peer Learning Circles

We’re delighted to kick off the Peer Learning Circles. As a recap, Peer Learning Circles are small, facilitated discussion groups led by ACHs for ACHs to share strategies, information, and lessons learned on topics of interest. Circles will focus on shared challenges, goals, or opportunities, and ACH participants can attend the ones most relevant to them.

As shared previously, the four Peer Learning Circle topics identified as priorities for the ACH Network are youth wellbeing, workforce development, Medi-Cal and CalAIM 101, and community rapid response. To attend, please register using the link provided for each.

Youth Wellbeing
Wed. Feb. 11th, 12-1pm
https://communitypartners.zoom.us/meeting/register/GWs8eHVeTaO8xWRT7VP3bg
This Peer Learning Circle empowers practitioners to master the complexities of holistic youth well-being (ages 10–25). Moving beyond silos, we will explore the vital intersections of physical, socio-emotional, cognitive, and economic development. This is a collaborative hub where we bridge the gap between theory and impact, focusing on evidence-based strategies that turn collective purpose into the policies and activities that reshape our schools and societies. At the first meeting on Feb. 11th, participants will get to know each other, discuss how their work intersects with youth wellbeing, and surface what the group wants to work on collectively.
Facilitators: Rafael Avendano (Redwood City Together) and Nancy Vernon (Marin 9 to 25)

Workforce Development
Thurs. Feb. 19th, 12-1pm
https://communitypartners.zoom.us/meeting/register/7_8DGOtxScKGsCqwpCcFQA
This Peer Learning Circle will convene ACHs to share strategies, challenges, and innovations related to workforce development. Discussions will center on building, sustaining, and advancing community-connected workforces across California, including community health workers (CHWs), promotoras, and other trusted messengers. The Circle will provide a collaborative space for ACHs to learn from one another’s approaches, align with statewide workforce initiatives, and explore practical solutions to regional and local workforce needs. Through facilitated peer exchange, participants will strengthen collective capacity to support a resilient and equitable health workforce across California. At the first meeting on Feb. 19th, ACHs will introduce themselves, share what they’re working on in regards to workforce development, and discuss what they hope to gain from this space, as well as how members can best support one another.
Facilitator: Dr. Shiloh Williams, Imperial County ICACH

Medi-Cal and CalAIM 101
Fri. Feb. 27th, 12-1pm
https://communitypartners.zoom.us/meeting/register/7tCpv1ldR3yq5eJ1qLI_MQ
The CalAIM & Medi-Cal Peer Learning Group is a collaborative forum to share knowledge, problem-solve, and learn from one another as CalAIM and Medi-Cal continue to evolve. Through regular peer-to-peer discussions, and possible guest speakers, the group will explore practical implementation strategies, policy updates, and promising practices related to CalAIM and Medi-Cal including CHW Benefit, new enrollment requirements, Enhanced Care Management (ECM), Community Supports, health equity, data sharing, and cross-sector coordination. The first session on Feb. 27th will focus on providing a brief overview of Medi-Cal and CalAIM as well as an opportunity to hear from fellow ACHs on their related work.
Facilitator: Brandi Muro, Fresno Community Health Improvement Partnership (FCHIP)

Community Rapid Response
Thurs. March 5th, 12-1pm
https://communitypartners.zoom.us/meeting/register/2LF3ubWGTyGGBSUdsHruzQ
This Peer Learning Circle will convene ACH’s across our CACHI Network to share stories, tools, resources, and information related to rapid response networks in our communities. The goal is to hear and learn from both ACH’s working with on the ground organizations as well as ACH’s who are leveraging their wellness funds and other resources to support rapid response efforts in their communities. This is a shared learning space with the goal to help strengthen, empower and inform our collective network in the fight to protect our communities. At the first meeting on March 5th, participants will discuss how their work intersects with rapid response efforts in their communities and identify what the group hopes to learn and share collectively.
Facilitator:Jacky Franco-Silva, East San Jose PEACE Partnership and CACHI

Call for Interest in an Ad Hoc Advisory Group for ACH Network Development

A key goal of CACHI’s Strategic Roadmap is to develop and mobilize the statewide ACH Network—comprising all ACHs across California—around key issues, critical moments, and opportunities through a shared strategy and collective approach. Beginning this year, we are taking intentional steps to strengthen and advance our statewide ACH Network through deeper coordination and shared efforts.

As part of this work, we are seeking 3 - 5 ACH leaders to serve on an Ad Hoc Advisory Group for ACH Network Development. This group will help shape the Network’s strategies and priorities during its early development phase. The commitment will be approximately 6 - 7 months, starting in February and running through July or August.

If you are interested in participating, please complete this short survey by Friday, February 6th.

We are looking for advisory members who are:

  • Interested in helping to build the ACH Network

  • Aligned with the vision of the ACH Network as outlined in CACHI’s Strategic Roadmap

  • Have experience and/or expertise in network or coalition building - either through lived or professional experience.

Scope of activities of the Ad Hoc Advisory Group:

  • Advise on the development of the ACH Network by helping to shape priorities and strategies during its early development phase.

  • Help to plan and facilitate the April Network Meeting agenda focused on ACH Network development (April 29-30th in Los Angeles). Attendance at the Network will be required; travel costs will be covered by CACHI.

Time commitments and stipend:

  • Advisory Group members will meet twice a month from February to April, and then will meet monthly from May through June or August. Our first meeting will likely be the third week of February.

  • In between meetings and in preparation for the April Network Meeting, there may be materials and resources to review.

  • We estimate this to be about 3 - 5 hours per month.

  • Advisors will be provided with a stipend for their participation.

To apply

Please complete this short survey to apply by Friday, February 6th.

Program Reminders

Coaching Office Hours
Starting this month, ACHs can sign up for 1:1 coaching sessions with a coach of your choice, giving you all greater flexibility to schedule time to receive coaching based on your current support needs. This updated approach is designed to be more responsive to where ACHs are now and what they need, while also streamlining and simplifying the coaching process.

How does coaching work?

  • ACHs can sign up for 1:1 coaching sessions with a coach of your choice, based on your needs and priorities.

  • CACHI has launched a coaching webpage with bios and background information on each of the coaches to help you identify the right coach to work with and to schedule a session with them.

  • ACHs can continue to work with your current coach or select another coach based on their topical expertise or experience you are looking for.

  • ACHs may schedule one-time sessions or ongoing meetings — completely up to you.

  • Coaching sessions will be focused on responding to your needs to advance your work (rather than general check-ins).

  • Coaching is strongly encouraged but entirely optional. This is a resource available to you, and we hope you’ll take advantage of it in ways that are most useful.

What can coaching be used for?

Coaching support can cover a wide range of topics, including:

  • Governance and community engagement

  • Funding and sustainability

  • Partnerships and communications

  • Health improvement strategy development

  • Interpreting and navigating state policy

Please reach out to Tina with questions.
