Redwood City/North Fair Oaks Community Collaborative for Children’s Success

Youth and Families Shaping the Future

Backboned by Redwood City Together, which has advanced the success of youth and families since 1991, the Community Collaborative for Children’s Success (CCCS) is an Accountable Community for Health (ACH) of 10 partner organizations working toward long-term systems change and improved quality and access to direct services. It tracks progress through five population-level indicators: connection to a caring adult, employment and unemployment rates, youth optimism, children in poverty, and educational attainment among young adults ages 18 to 24, guided by a shared vision that all low-income youth and families in Redwood City and North Fair Oaks are healthy and have the power to shape their own future.

Achievements

• Advancing Youth Employment, Mentorship, and Advisory Boards: CCCS is shifting how institutions engage young people, moving them from program participants to paid decision-makers on advisory boards and equipping employers with tools to build workplaces where young people can thrive long term. The collaborative has created 80 paid opportunities for youth and two toolkits to support the employment process.

• Convening the Community: CCCS has built the infrastructure for cross-sector alignment, bringing together more than 45 organizations, including county and city government, around a shared understanding of community needs and a coordinated response.

• Increasing Access to Resources: The collaborative is building direct pathways between residents and the resources meant to serve them, hosting community cafecitos to inform families of services and resources.

• Turning Data into Action: CCCS conducts community-wide surveys to ensure alignment with community needs, then synthesizes and reports the data to stakeholders to align action. The most recent community survey collected more than 600 responses.

• Providing Professional Development and Technical Assistance: The collaborative is investing in the long-term capacity of its partner network by equipping organizations with shared tools, training, and infrastructure. More than 150 community members have benefited from its workshops.
